Mark Rushbrook on Ford accepting risk with Red Bull partnership for F1 2026 regulations

With Ford set to join Red Bull as their power unit partner for Formula 1’s 2026 regulation overhaul, Mark Rushbrook, global director of Ford Performance, has acknowledged the inherent risks of entering the sport amid such a major technical shift.

Rushbrook said: "Every time there are new rules, especially if it’s for the power unit and the chassis at the same time, there is — I wouldn’t say fear, but there is — a known risk of teams starting it on different levels... The main thing is how we balance that again. It’s about how we react as a sport and as opponents... I am happy with how they are going so far... At the Ford Motor Company we believe that there has to be at least some form of electrification... That is also partly what attracted us to the 2026 regulations. It’s about the balance between the internal combustion engine and electrification."

Liam Lawson on learning from a difficult start to the 2025 season at Racing Bulls

Liam Lawson has given a candid assessment of his challenging return to Racing Bulls, acknowledging both his struggles and recent progress as he works to find consistency with the team.

Lawson said: "You're always learning, and we're always making mistakes. So I'm not sitting here saying that I've done everything perfectly this year, because I haven't. But, we understand as drivers that it takes a lot for a Formula 1 weekend to run smoothly. For a session to run smoothly, you're relying on a lot of variables, and so for me, I'm just focused on making sure I'm doing everything I can. And it felt like on my side, we were working in a good way, and things more or less outside of our control were not clicking, let's say. And in Monaco, they did, which is good."

Guenther Steiner on why Cadillac F1 won’t consider Alex Palou without F1 experience

Guenther Steiner has outlined why he believes Alex Palou is unlikely to feature in Cadillac F1’s plans for its 2026 entry, drawing on his own experience launching Haas and emphasising the importance of Formula 1 experience for a new team.

Steiner said: “When you set a new team up, you’ve got so many things to work at... you don’t have the time for drivers who haven’t been in Formula 1 because you need to find your own way and you have to guide the driver as well, it normally doesn’t work out. So therefore it was very important for me when we started off that we had drivers who drove already in F1 cars to develop the team, because that’s the most important thing that you have to do the first year – you need to develop the team. If you want to develop drivers you have to wait a little bit... I think if Cadillac comes in, they wouldn’t be doing an American driver who has never been in F1 any favours.”

Buemi on Verstappen’s Le Mans debut: “It’s just a matter of time”

Sebastien Buemi believes Max Verstappen’s debut at the Le Mans 24 Hours is inevitable, citing Verstappen’s passion for endurance racing and recent changes to driver regulations as key factors.

Buemi said: "He's passionate. He asked me a lot about Formula E, we spoke about WEC. Obviously, I remember I used to talk about the weight between the drivers being a factor also for him to compete, which has been adjusted with the average of the three drivers. It's not ideal yet. Obviously, if you are heavy, it's still a bit of an issue. But that was something he wanted to be clear and amended before he would take part. But I'm sure, Formula 1 is extremely heavy. It's a heavy schedule. It's very difficult to commit to do Le Mans. But I know it's just a matter of time until he actually does it."
